22cm Satellite World Globe

22cm diameter hand-crafted globe using satellite imagery taken in January 2004. Surface finished with a gloss coating.

This globe is handmade, the sphere is made from plaster unlike most globes which are made from cardboard. The 12 gores and North/South pole caps are applied by hand. Some seam lines, gaps, and small alignment issues are visible as seen in the product photos, great effort has gone into making these as small as possible. The sphere diameter is 22cm before sanding and adding the paper and varnish, so the exact diameter of the globe is 22cm +/- 4mm (just under 9").

This product includes a black plastic donut stand. This stand is compatible with 3 Omnitrack L15D bearings which allow the globe to rotate freely in the stand, but bearings are NOT INCLUDED with this product. Felt inserts will be included in place of the bearings to allow the globe to sit stationary in any desired position. Bearings can be purchased separately if desired.
