This globe is handmade, the sphere is made from plaster unlike most globes which are made from cardboard. The 12 gores and North/South pole caps are applied by hand. Some seam lines, gaps, and small alignment issues are visible as seen in the product photos, great effort has gone into making these as small as possible. The sphere diameter is 36cm before sanding and adding the paper and varnish, so the exact diameter of the globe is 36cm +/- 4mm (just over 14").
This product includes your choice of a tan or black plastic stand.
The stand uses three high quality bearings allowing the globe to spin in all directions. You can choose whether or not to have the bearings included, if they are not included felt inserts will be installed in their place so the globe can sit in the stand stationary.
