50 cm (20 inch) diameter hand-crafted globe using satellite imagery taken in July 2004. Finished with a gloss coating, this globe has over 1500 text labels of Countries, Settlements, Island, Regions and Oceans with the intention of highlighting topography over labels.

This globe is handmade, the sphere is made from plaster unlike most globes which are made from cardboard. The 12 gores and North/South pole caps are applied by hand. Some seam lines, gaps, and small alignment issues are visible as seen in the product photos, great effort has gone into making these as small as possible. The sphere diameter is 50cm before sanding and adding the paper and varnish, so the exact diameter of the globe is 50cm +/- 4mm (just under 20").
This product includes two black plastic stands. The donut stand is four pieces which ship pre-assembled, the horseshoe stand is a single piece.
Both stands use three high quality Omnitrack L15D bearings, a set of three is included and will be installed in the donut stand, they can be easily removed using an allen key and switched to the horseshoe stand if desired. I can switch the bearings to the horseshoe stand before shipping if you contact me after purchase.
